The Grange Trekking Centre is blessed by being amongst the beautiful Black Mountains, in the east of the park. Placed on the boundary of the counties of Powys and Gwent, it is relatively easy and quick to access from south and mid England and Wales. The top Welsh location for outdoor pursuits in great mountainous countryside is here, on the borders of England and Wales, within the Brecon Beacons National Park. WHERE ARE WE SITUATED?

Grange Trekking is blessed by being amongst the beautiful Black Mountains, in the east of the park. Placed on the boundary of the counties of Powys and Gwent, it is relatively easy and quick to access from south and mid England and Wales.

Grange Trekking is situated in the Historic Vale of Ewyas between Hay-on-Wye, or the "town of books", and Abergavenny - "the gateway to Wales". The centre is to be found in the small hamlet of Capel-y-ffin, in a fork of the valley, which is surrounded on three sides by lofty mountain ridges.

Public transport is available to Hay-on wye (8 miles north of us) or Abergavenny (15 miles south of us). There is a coach and rail station at Abergavenny, and also at Hereford. Taxi services are available from the local towns, which we are happy to arrange. There is also the Brecon Beacons National Park bus route on Sundays during the holiday season, which travels within a quarter of a mile of the Grange.

GETTING HERE BY CAR

Public transport is available to Hay-on Wye (8 miles north of us) or Abergavenny (15 miles south of us). There is a coach and rail station at Abergavenny, and also at Hereford. Taxi services are available from the local towns, which we are happy to arrange. If you are travelling by car, please take care as the roads from the local towns are mostly single track, with few passing places, but they do have tremendous views!

If you are using sat-nav, put Capel-y-ffin and the postcode NP7 7NP, use it only until Capel-y-ffin, then follow the “Grange Trekking” signs (do not put ‘The Grange’ or ‘Abergavenny’ into your sat-nav as it takes you to a private house in town!!)
